RE - Been denied employment because of background check?
Has anybody been denied employment because they had a minor incident show up on there background check...?
If so, lets hear about them.

-------------------------
As a job applicant, your rights are protected by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).  If the employer purchases a pre-employment screening background check http://backgroundsearch.com/Employee-Screen.htmlon you, then he must get your written permission first. Also, he must tell you about any negative information that would cause him to deny your the job; and he must tell you where he got the information. Then, you have a chance to correct any errors and to ask the background search company to correct the errors. Of course, you may have to prove that the information is in error. Note, that if the employer does his own background check, without buying it from a 3rd party, then he does not have to get your permission or  tell you about the information, positive or negative.

Was it job related?
I am so sorry to hear that.  I've worked in Human Resources for some time and know that if we chose not to hire someone based upon information found in their background, the information would have to be job related.  For example, drunk driving - we could use this information to withhold an offer if the position required driving.  If the duties only required in-house office work, then we could not discriminate.  It all depends on what job you are applying for and if the offense can be related to the job.

I hope this helps.
